❌ The contract was negotiated behind closed doors. Even though it concerns water for all of us. Our livelihood! The content of the contract offer from the Strausberg-Erkner Water Board (Wasserverband Strausberg-Erkner – WSE) to Tesla, which was approved by the WSE on April 2, is still under lock and key. We were present at the public part of the meeting and asked questions. Through the helpless answers of the WSE board during the citizens‘ question time, we got first information about the content of the contract.
▪ Whether Tesla will also agree to the contract is still unclear.
❗This is the problem with this contract:
Previously, WSE’s articles of association allowed it to reduce Tesla’s supply in situations with very high water demand; now Tesla is allowed to use its peak consumption of 233 m³/h. (For orientation: the annual consumption of 1.423 million m³ corresponds to 162 m³/h).
The reason is the new contract, which is ranked above the statutes
Possible drought scenarios:
A) All consumers demand maximum quantities of water at the same time, including for irrigation, pool filling, frequent showers, etc. – this leads to a drop in pressure in the system because the WSE has a maximum delivery capacity
▪ This can lead to individual lines being blocked in order to increase the pressure in the system, Tesla is left out because the new contract even allows peak consumption
B) Bans on irrigation are imposed and monitored
C) Hourly closures of individual lines, again without Tesla’s involvement
❗Basically: Some people are left high and dry while Tesla is allowed to produce electric cars and batteries at the same time❗
Even more explosive is the fact that the drinking water that Tesla uses in the cooling towers when it is hot is largely evaporated in the process.
