Once again, forest has been cut down for Tesla.
In the middle of the night on Friday, trees were felled next to the Tesla factory. The police were present, presumably to intimidate any feared protests. Tesla’s sales remain extremely weak. But Musk wants to stick to his expansion plans, at least as long as Tesla itself doesn’t have to lift a finger.
According to Bebauungplan 60 (development plan 60), a freight station is to be built in the drinking water protection area. But so far, the site does not belong to Tesla. Nevertheless, there are extensive construction sites on the public tracks. The passenger station for all citizens is being relocated just so that it is closer to Tesla. This means that it is further away for everyone else in the municipality.
Whether Tesla’s expansion will happen is anyone’s guess. We, the alliance Tesla den Hahn abdrehen (Turn off Tesla’s tap), consider it unrealistic.
But the state government of Brandenburg and Deutsche Bahn don’t care. They continue to flatten forests, build roads, and lay tracks for Tesla. In doing so, they are ignoring the protests, dont give a shit about the environment, and disregarding the objections to the development plan submitted by nature conservation associations.
However, we are not giving up. We will continue to protest for water justice, a genuine mobility transition, and against destructive, profit-oriented corporations like Tesla with its fascist boss Elon Musk.
